The ‘Jersey Shore’ gang returns in crazy revival

Thursdays are officially “Jerzdays” on MTV!

The season premiere of MTV’s “Jersey Shore Family Vacation” aired on April 5, with the Jersey Shore gang reuniting in Miami for the vacation of a lifetime.

“Jersey Shore Family Vacation” features original “Jersey Shore” housemates Deena Nicole Cortese, Paul “Pauly D” DelVecchio, Jenni “JWoww” Farley, Vinny Guadagnino, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino. It has been five years since the last episode of the original series aired and a lot has changed.

Deena is married and JWoww is also married with a younger son and daughter. Snooki married Jionni – whom she met on “Jersey Shore – and had “two tan babies.” Pauly D has a daughter and Ronnie is expecting a child with his girlfriend.

“The Situation” is two years sober and pleaded guilty to federal tax evasion in January. He will be facing sentencing this spring. He spends much of the premiere discussing his legal troubles, joking that right now it’s “United States vs. The Situation.”

“He won’t be able to survive in prison,” Pauly D said on the show. All of the other Jersey Shore cast members expressed worry for their roommate as well.

Vinny is living with his girlfriend, but he is still being smothered by his mother, who lives just around the corner and makes sure to stop by and do his laundry.

Unfortunately, Samantha “Sammi Sweetheart” Giancola decided to sit out on the vacation to avoid drama.

“I am extremely happy in every aspect of my life and want to avoid potentially toxic situations,” her statement said, according to the show.

Pauly D made sure to keep Giancola’s presence alive by bringing in an unusual replacement, a doll-lookalike that knows all Sammi’s iconic taglines.

The season premiere included plastic surgery, Snooki’s notorious pickle eating, relationships and of course, drama — specifically concerning Ronnie.

The gang spends their first night out in Miami at a club and, yes, there was plenty of fist pumping. Vinny was sure to break down his favorite dance move, what he calls “kicking down the door,” and it is exactly what it sounds like.

Pauly finds a dark-haired beauty on the dance floor and is sure he has met his wife. The night is soon disrupted by Snooki, who is so drunk she cannot even stand on her two feet and ends up falling on the pavement.

“I’m looking around and I’m realizing that we’re not these, like, wiser, mature people,” Vinny said.

Drama resurfaced when Deena lashed out on Ronnie for not reaching out to her when her father died, and tension arises at the “celebrity dinner” between Ronnie and The Situation when they discuss his tax evasion issues.

“Things have changed, but they really haven’t changed,” Ronnie said.

He’s right. The “Jersey Shore” cast are the same spray-tanned, fist-pumping crew that we fell in love with five years ago. Fans of the original—as well as people curious to see what the show is all about—can tune in on Thursdays at 8 p.m.
