The Ionian staff shares their favorite songs of the season

“That’s Christmas Time to Me” album by Pentatonix

“I have always been a huge fan of both a capella and Pentatonix specifically, ever since they got their start on the show ‘The Sing-Off ’ in 2011. This album is an amazing blend of remixed holiday classics and some original songs as well. The entire album is full of creative versions of holiday favorites, and the title song ‘That’s Christmas to Me’ always gets me in the holiday spirit.”

-Dana Ruby, Editor-in-Chief

“This Christmastime” by Corbin Bleu

“I love the song ‘This Christmastime’ because it is so fun, upbeat and gets me pumped for the holidays.”

-Kelly Farrell, Chief Photo Editor

“Wrapped in Red” album by Kelly Clarkson

“Not only did this album invent singing, it invented Christmas itself! Christmas literally didn’t exist until Kelly Clarkson released this album in 2013. Thank her this holiday season by buying the album for all your friends and family members.”

-Michael Coppola, Chief Copy Editor

“Snoopy vs. the Red Baron” by the Royal Guardsmen

“Who doesn’t love this song? If you’ve never heard it go listen to it right now. I’m not lying – go. It’s a Christmas staple.”

-Abigail Rapillo, News Editor

“Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” by Michael Bublé

“I first listened to this song a while back with my mom while going Christmas shopping, so now I always listen to it as a way to kick off the holiday season.”

-Meghan Quinn, Advertising Manager

“The Magic of Christmas” album by Nat King Cole

“I’ve listened to the Nat King Cole Christmas album since I was a kid. My family would play it while decorating the Christmas tree or baking for the holidays, so it always reminds me of the best part of the holidays – spending time with family. He was also incredibly talented, which only makes the album better!”

-Julia O’Regan, Features Editor

“I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” by the Jackson 5

“My parents always played it in the car, and it grew on me over the years.”

-Ryan McFadden, Sports Editor

“Carol of the Bells” by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra

For me and my sister Amanda, this is a top 10 favorite song. The Trans-Siberian Orchestra didn’t have to go so hard and create an absolute jam, but they did and I’m thankful for it.”

-Alison Robles, Managing Editor

“Greatest Time of the Year” by Aly and AJ

“It is the perfect song to get you into the holiday spirit because of its fun blend of pop and rock. The chorus is catchy and the verses are heartwarming. Also, it’s Aly and AJ!”

-Brian Connors, A&E Editor

“Christmas Kisses” EP by Ariana Grande

“Ariana Grande can be thought of as the queen of pop, and her Christmas album ‘Christmas Kisses’ isn’t any different. Ariana brings her creative charm to the Christmas season and with that I say ‘thank you, next.”’

-Kaitlyn Cameron, Social Media Manager
